Under the banner of Affordable Housing there exists various financial levels of rental and home ownership price points, directly related to respective family income. These levels usually run the gamut of gifted homes to subsidized rental and ownership programs. The common denominator of which is that the limitations of both government and the private sector have been unable to keep up with the inherent demands for such housing.
As social entrepreneurs, AHA has made a determination, to develop what is referred to as workforce Affordable Housing. Engineered for ownership, this level of affordable housing enables the potential purchaser candidates to qualify for the local/region income requirements, as they may relate to inherent area median income levels. At this level of Affordable Housing, in most instances, the candidate family is usually living in a rental property in which they receive less than equitable living conditions, in exchange for the rental values they pay. This for certain obviates their never having the opportunity to receive the financial benefits of home ownership, and the all-important Family and Civic building of “pride of ownership”. In essence the successful conversion of tenancy to home ownership fosters Economic betterment and social empowerment.
